The same three chords as the last song, but they feel completely different, because here it is all about the timing. Our chart sits at 104 beats a minute.
ring of fire
The new idea: counting
In the part our chart opens with, you sit on G for a good while, then D and C go past quickly on the way back. It is easy to change early, or to get caught out by how fast the D and C go by.
Do this: listen through once without playing, and count the beats out loud. You do not need to be right the first time. Just notice how long the wait is and how quick the move is.
Strum: boom-chuck
Try this instead of plain strums. On beat one, hit just the lowest note of the chord. On beat two, brush the higher strings. Boom, chuck, boom, chuck. For G the low note is the 3rd fret of the thick E string, for C the 3rd fret of the A string, and for D the open D string.
It is harder than it sounds at first, so slow the song down and give it a few days.
You're done when: you get the quick D and C right without looking at the chart.
